In this scholarly work, Gautam Chattopadhyaya undertakes a detailed study of the role of the legislature in Bengal in relation to India’s struggle for freedom. The project was initiated at the request of Professor R. S. Sharma, then Chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research, in early 1973.
